Europe

Our history with Europe isn’t part of our 2018-2019 world tour: it was built separately, first in Scotland before that big trip, then in the Ardennes right after our return. Since our children came along, Europe has become our favourite playground for family travel — leading up to our 2026 road trip across Italy, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, and Germany.

Our 2026 Road Trip: From Italy to the Balkans

This is the journey currently filling our blog. After stops in Italy and Greece, we discovered the Balkans — a region still rarely covered by French-speaking travel blogs, and one that completely won us over: Albania, from the Riviera to the Albanian Alps, Montenegro between the Bay of Kotor and Durmitor National Park, and Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Three authentic destinations, easy to explore by road trip, and surprisingly well suited to families with young children — as long as you plan the itinerary carefully. The rest of the trip takes us on to Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, and Germany — more to come on the blog soon.

Our First Family Trips in Europe

Before this big road trip, we had already tested Europe with our kids: Cyprus in 2023 with a tiny baby and a toddler, a mother & baby thalassotherapy stay in Saint-Malo, and the Christmas markets in Alsace. Shorter getaways, perfect for family travel without going far.

Before the Kids: Scotland and the Ardennes

Two European memories date back to before our children were born: a road trip in Scotland, and our very first road trip as a couple after 14 months around the world, in the Belgian Ardennes.

How We Travel

All our recent European stories are built for family travel with young children: a manageable pace, tested accommodation, and activities the whole family enjoys. Every post shares our real itinerary, day by day, along with the tips and pitfalls to avoid.
